Free COVID-19 awareness app for India

Aarogya Setu is a free health and fitness mobile app that enables you to avail of health services in India during the COVID-19 pandemic. Developed by NIC eGov Mobile Apps and the Government of India, Aarogya Setu is designed to inform you of important advisories regarding the virus. You can find health tips on how to avoid catching it and what to do if you are starting to show symptoms.

Designed for the people

This app is similar to how other health apps for the COVID-19 crisis function. You can access guides on how to deal with the virus, such as disinfection methods, general rules to follow, and more factual information. People living in India are recommended to download and use the app so the government can easily collect the necessary data on the population and help in keeping your informed for your safety.

Another feature is the location-tracking system that can alert you if anyone with the virus is nearby. First, you have to do the self-assessment test. The app will ask questions about your health and will show only your status on the map. No other data will be shared, as this is only meant to let others know if their area is still or if they have to take precautions while outside.

The app also provides COVID-19 help center numbers for you to contact. However, there are still some flaws in the design. It uses Bluetooth for its location tracker and this can create privacy issues for your device. It also doesn’t have a live counter for the number of infected in an area, which can be of help to those who can’t enable the location tracker at the moment.

Needs more fine-tuning

All in all, Aarogya Setu is a good app to have since the Indian government itself is maintaining it to easily stay in contact with the local people. However, there are still a lot to add and polish before it can become an app everyone can depend on. Nevertheless, it’s free to use and gives out helpful data for anyone who wants to be up-to-date with the current events.

In Softonic we scan all the files hosted on our platform to assess and avoid any potential harm for your device. Our team performs checks each time a new file is uploaded and periodically reviews files to confirm or update their status. This comprehensive process allows us to set a status for any downloadable file as follows:

Clean

It’s extremely likely that this software program is clean.

What does this mean?

We have scanned the file and URLs associated with this software program in more than 50 of the world's leading antivirus services; no possible threat has been detected.

Warning

This software program is potentially malicious or may contain unwanted bundled software.

Why is the software program still available?

Based on our scan system, we have determined that these flags are possibly false positives.

What is a false positive?

It means a benign program is wrongfully flagged as malicious due to an overly broad detection signature or algorithm used in an antivirus program.

We’d like to highlight that from time to time, we may miss a potentially malicious software program. To continue promising you a malware-free catalog of programs and apps, our team has integrated a Report Software feature in every catalog page that loops your feedback back to us.

Flag any particular issues you may encounter and Softonic will address those concerns as soon as possible.
